Rename

Get a filename suggested from supported file content. Edit the proposal or press ⌘R for another suggestion, then confirm the rename. The file extension stays the same.

Names use camelCase for short stems and hyphens for longer ones, without spaces.

Batch rename

Select several supported files to get a consistent set of names based on their contents. Edit any suggestion before applying the batch.

Generating proposals does not rename the files.

Move files

Choose a destination folder or select a recent one, then confirm the move. Tero moves the selected files only after you choose the destination.

Personal folder bookmarks and recent destination paths stay local.

Compress

Create a ZIP beside the first selected file. The selected originals stay where they are.

Extract archive

Unpack a supported ZIP into a new, clearly named folder. Tero checks for an existing destination instead of overwriting it.

Encrypted, multipart and ZIP64 archives are not supported.

Convert documents

Choose a format from the available options. Word and text files support PDF, DOCX, ODT, RTF and TXT. Spreadsheets support PDF, XLSX, ODS, CSV and TSV. Presentations support PDF, PPTX and ODP. The source file determines which formats appear.

Office conversion needs LibreOffice installed locally. This works on downloaded files, not a live Google Sheets document. CSV/TSV export keeps the first sheet as values and loses formulas and styling.

PDF to text or Word

Convert a PDF with selectable text to TXT or a text-only Word document. For a scan, choose Extract text first.

PDF-to-Word does not reconstruct the full original layout.

Summarize files

Get an AI summary of a supported image, PDF or Office document in a reading card. Office files are converted to PDF locally before their prepared content is sent for summarization.

This action sends prepared content for AI processing. PDF summaries currently allow up to 30 pages and 4 MB; unsupported files show a limitation instead of a fabricated summary.

File safety

Conversions and other generated outputs create new files beside the originals. Rename and Move change the selected files after confirmation. Tero checks for changed sources and conflicting destinations before running the action.

Use downloaded regular files. Folders and symbolic links are not supported. General selections are capped at 20 files, 100 MB each and 500 MB combined; individual actions can have smaller limits.
